Life in the Catskills

The Catskills was a summer world for generations of east coast Jews, and home all year for many Jews. It was a vital part of American culture and a thriving ethnic culture which left memories that linger to the present.

The Melton Center for Jewish Studies introduces Professor Phil Brown, Professor of Sociology, Northeastern University and President of the Catskills Institute, and Mr. David Gold, Catskills native and author of books on Sullivan County, NY, who will present the Catskills as the vacation mecca, and the Catskills as the year-round home to many Jewish communities.  If you have photos and memorabilia from the Catskills, please bring them to share.

Free, no rsvp necessary. Open to the public.

This program is co-sponsored by the Columbus Jewish Historical Society
