Object Name: Menorah
Description: One seven-branched white porcelain menorah, manufactured by “Dresdner Porzellan,” a German Porcelain Company that was established in 1872.
Link to company’s site: http://www.dresden-porcelain.com/startseite.htmlMenorah belonged to Frank Georg Wobst, who was the retired Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Huntington Bancshares Incorporated. Mr. Wobst died in 2009.

In the 1990’s he became involved with the Columbus-Dresden Sister City Inc., a nonprofit organization “formed to promote the relationship between the City of Dresden, Germany, and Columbus, Ohio.” One of the organization’s goals was to fund raise for rebuilding the Dresden Synagogue that was destroyed in the 1938 Kristellnacht event.

This menorah was presented in 2001 to Mr. Wobst for the contribution that his group the Columbus Dresden Sister City Inc. raised of over 450,000 in Central Ohio to restore the synagogue in Dresden, Germany. The relationship started in 1992 to foster an exchange of understanding etc. Wobst son Franck reached out to the head of CJF Gordon Hecker to find a home for it in 2013. His father died in 2009.
