Description: Dark blue, wool coat (see:2013.34.39 uniform cap). Gold buttons read “R.C.A.F.” Patches on shoulders read, “U.S.A.” Probably jacket worn for uniform. Uniform hat “Wm Sully Limited / 1202 University Street Montreal”

Probably from Marion Soomsky’s brother, Sanford Soomsky, who joined the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War 2 because he was not allowed to join U.S. Air Force, since age restriction was 21 and he was 19-20 years old. According to oral history transcript from Marion Soomsky, he died September 30, 1942.
