Leventhal Video Memoirs – Hani Hara
Hani Hara is a Columbus-based artist known for his vibrant use of color and expressive paintings. Born in Cairo, Egypt, he and his family left Egypt in 1958 due to political turmoil, briefly residing in Paris, France, before settling in the United States.
Hara is a self-taught artist, developing a unique style that merges faces and landscapes with bold, sensual colors. His work is deeply rooted in freedom of style and space, inviting viewers to look deeper into his compositions. Over the years, he has exhibited his paintings in various galleries, including Sharon Weiss Gallery, Lindsey Gallery, and the Columbus Jewish Center. He has also participated in group exhibitions with the Ohio Art League.
Beyond his artistic career, Hara has contributed to community projects, such as painting on ostrich eggs for a local initiative. His work continues to be celebrated for its expressive depth and emotional resonance, making him a significant figure in the Columbus art scene.
